Lancome Hypnose Star Review

Right, it's a rave guys! Now I am normally not one for buying high end mascaras (well, Benefit 'They're Real' is the only exception) I just do not see a point in paying £20+ for a mascara when drugstore brands delivered similar results.  Now, Lancome Hypnose Star is a total exception.  I would repurchase this mascara without a doubt when I run out. Normally with drugstore mascaras I need to layer two different ones on top of each other, I will use a lengthening one first (such as L'Oreal volume million lashes) then add another mascara on top which volumises and thickens (such as Revlon Grow Luscious).  With the Hynose Star I didnt need to layer another mascara before or after, all it takes is two coats (or three, when you want the spidery legs effect) and I am good to go! This is definitely the as close to perfect mascara I have ever tried.

Now, in terms of price this mascara retails for around £21.  I bought mine in a medium-large sized Boots store (obviously Boots as I get discount).  I think this mascara is totally worth its price, I mean as I mentioned before I had to use two mascaras anyway to get the desired effect and those two mascaras added together comes to around £20+ anyway.  So really I am paying the same amount for my mascara right?

For those wondering how this one compares to the other mascaras in the Hypnose range then all I can say is I have only tried the Doll Eyes and the original Hypnose.  The Star is MILES better.  No joke.

Here is the evidence to support my claims:
As you can see my own lashes are pretty short and sparse (damn you Asian genes!) and are not very noticeable at all =[
This is after applying two coats of mascara, (I have also lined my upper water line aswel, sorry guys, should have not done that to get a clearer view) you can see my lashes are now..VISIBLE and look pretty good to me. =]

One side of the brush is flat and the other is shaped like the Doll Eyes brush, tapering in like a cone shape.  This allows you to rotate the brush depending on what you want to do, for me I use the flat side (bottom picture) first to define, lengthen and seperate lashes, then use the tapered shape to add volume and thicken.

All in all, a great mascara! Hope you guys have found this review helpful.  In the UK this mascara is only availible in the colour Black but I am sure in the future they will bring out more colours as the demand for it gets higher.

Any questions feel free to ask =]

Thanks for reading!

P.S have you noticed the picture quality is ALOT better? I used a better camera for this and think it really makes a difference.

ON ITS LAST LEGS

Quite literally.  Just a quick post showing which products I have been loving and abusing so much that they have "hit pan" (basically used so much you can see the bottom of the packaging) or almost used up.  It actually takes me a while to actually FINISH a product up so hitting pan is already a big thing for me! Im constantly buying new makeup and old favourites always gets neglected! SO BAD!

Anyways on with the products now...

From left: L'oreal Superliner in black, Two Faced Shadow Insurance, Benefit Eyebright, Revlon
 precision eyelash glue.

L'Oreal Superliner

This eyeliner seriously never runs out! I have literally had this for over two years (I know thats kinda gross, all the germs blah blah blah) and finally its getting a little on the dry side so I think its onto its last days.  If you are looking for a easy to use black liquid liner I would definitely recommend this one! This is a definite repurchase for me!  L'Oreal also do a liquid liner which is more in a pen shape which is great for beginners in the liquid lining department.

Two Faced Shadow Insurance

This is again another staple in my makeup bag, I use this pretty much daily, sometimes even twice a day if I am going out at night and doing my makeup again.  This is again a great investment, you may think the initial £17 or so is expensive for an eye shadow primer but seriously this makes the cheapest and crappiest quality eyeshadow work like an expensive one.  I rely on this to keep my eyemakeup looking and fresh all day so it doesnt crease or fade etc!  This one tube has lasted me around a year so far so really its great value for money as you only need a tiny amount for both eyes! For more oily lids the Urban Decay Primer Potion is supposed to be better.  Ive used both but personally I tend to reach for this one more!

Benefit Eye Bright

I wish the lighting was good enough for me to swatch this for you guys! Its the most perfect nude/pale pink colour for either putting on your waterline to make your eyes look wider and more awake or for brightening the inner corners of the eye (this is generally what I use it for).  This colour looks alot more natural than using a white eyeliner in the water line as this is more of a flesh colour, I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for an alternative to a white eyeliner.  Its also great for highlighting on the brow bone to add definition to the eyes! Definite multi-tasker!

Revlon Precision Lash Glue

Right, you guys must be so sick of hearing me say the word "staple" but seriously all these products really are haha! Again after using this lash glue I wont be returning to using the crappy lash glue which comes with eyelashes, this is miles better! I have cried, walked in rain, slept overnight with this glue on for my fake lashes and its survived it all! No joke.  I will probably be trying out the new black coloured glue version next though as it may save the whole ... lining the lash line after applying lashes fiasco!

Urban Decay Naked Palette, Revlon Matte eyeshadow in Sable(009), Bodyshop Bronzer in Light Matte and Mac Mineralize Skin Finish Natural in Light Plus.

Urban Decay Naked Palette

This has the be the best eyeshadow palette I have ever come across/bought/used.  This was the palette which got me in the habit of using eyeshadow on a daily basis (some may think thats a good thing, some may think its bad) and I can't thank Urban Decay enough for this magnificent product!  As you may see from the picture above I have heavily abused the first half of the palette and barely touched the second half, this is because I feel the second half of colours are more suited towards night time looks and the first half of colours I use on a daily basis.  The colours I use the most is NAKED, SIN and BUCK.  The three combined is the perfect everyday light smokey eye!  I have got my eye on the Naked II palette and probably will purchase that in the future, Im just scared its not as great as this one?

Has anyone else tried both? Whats your thoughts?

Revlon Matte Eyeshadow in Sable

This product seriously has lasted me 3 years and I have only just hit pan.  This is what I use daily to line my lower lash line, its alot more natural than eyeliner and black eyeshadow and the perfect colour to add definition yet not be too much.  If you guys have a longer shaped face I would really recommend you guys try using a matte brown eyeshadow to line the lower lashes which will give the illusion of bigger eyes therefore make the face seem not as long.  Revlon also has many different colours in the matte formulations if you guys want a good recommendation for drugstore eyeshadows!

The Bodyshop Bronzer in Light Matte

If your pale skinned and looking for a good bronzer which won't make you look orange then look no further! This is great for pale skinned girls or guys out there! This is the first bronzer I have ever hit pan on so it must be special.  I love how it can also be built up for a more defined contour if you fancy (not really for me, I am seriously bad at contouring sadly) .  They also have a darker bronzer if your darker skinned aswel!

MAC mineralize skin finish natural in Light Plus

Firstly just to let you guys know the colour Light Plus means it is between Light and Light/Medium :)  .  I really enjoy this powder to set my foundation without making it look cakey! I have definitely neglected all my other loose powders since using this baby and I will definitely be repurchasing when I run out.  I have to say it probably is'nt a great product for people with really oily skin as it doesn't really control oil that much.  It can also be used on its own as it does provide light coverage for  those lucky girls and guys with great skin already (MEGA JEL).

So you will probably be glad to know thats the end of my blog post now, sorry for the picture quality I will try and get hold of a better camera soon to take some better snaps and swatches for you guys! Next post will probably be a review on some new items ive been trying out lately so keep eyes out for that!

Until next time, take care!

BRB. REVISION IN PROGRESS.

Oh such an original post title. I know. Please forgive me, the brain has been frazzled and fried trying to remember notes, quotes and names that I hadn't learned when I was supposed to *cough* during term time*cough*.

I know I have been neglecting my blog recently as it is (sorry for that too) and all will change when these blasted exams are done and dusted.

To keep you going I've just got a few very studious pictures to share :P.  Im sure you will enjoy!

P.S MY NEW HAIR!!!!

P.S  Seriously, I procrastinate so much it is unreal.  I do things that I never normally do, like, try record youtube videos, do my nails (immaculately that is, everyday life nails are a very slap dash job), make endless amounts of drinks to 'keep me hydrated', update my blog (like now) and watch youtube videos of how to be a thrifty Mrs!  Now the latter is just an unusual doing of its own, Im neither thrifty nor a Mrs haha but within the last week I've discovered how useful vinegar is in the household, along with other tricks to take out stains or clean bathrooms.  The future husband better appreciate this!

AOTD #1

Accessories of the day!

Now theres something different for you guys! =P So today is actually a very normal day and I was actually at work for most of it, however I did have the inspiration to dress a little less bleh and more yay so heres a few bits and pieces I came up with.  The outfit itself was very boring i.e A navy blue batwing shirt with vest top underneath and a pair of grey jeggins and black ankle boots.  Nothing special.  Heres where the magic happens...

My hair was screaming BORING! So I added a headband (which i normally actually wear as a necklace) to vamp it up a bit.  The ring was from Primark, a lovely armour ring that wasnt ridiculously overprices *cough* Topshop *cough*.  Lastly was just some collar tips so I could get away without wearing a necklace (not practical for working).

So all in all I was actually quite happy with my outfit today and would probably wear this out to somewhere a bit more special soon , ya know give it some loving and less chop suey smelling! Haha those of you that are chinese and work in a takeaway will know exactly what I mean.

OOTD ft double denim

Just got inspiration to do a quick outfit of the day as todays weather was so AWESOME!
This outfit is nothing special but it is the first time I have sported double denim and also a bright pink lip to bring the whole outfit to life a little bit more.  I think the pink lips just adds a pop of colour to an otherwise quite bland colour palette im wearing. Enjoy!

My Yesstyle Boots <3

Nail of the day! Inspired by the movie 'Up'.  The blue sky and balloons in the air.

Tried to add a close up picture in to get a closer look of the bright lip I was sporting.
Will be wearing this lip colour all through spring/summer now!

P.S Just wanted to say sorry for the rigid/stiff posing I am not a natural when it comes to full length photographs and as I do more of these OOTD posts I will hopefully get better!

Hope everyones had a chance to enjoy the amazing sunshine today! The sun always puts me in a good mood and now I have to go back to doing essay work =[ tempted to take a cider into the back garden and 'work' there!

One for the boys and girls.

Product Rave

Hallo guys! Its been a while since I last posted and I don't really know why lol, just lost motivation and I am currently procastinating TTM! Hope everyones been well and I hope I start finish this god damn essay soon!

Anyways moving onto the main point of this blog post (other than letting people know I am still alive) I have a new found shower lover and wipe those dirty thought outta your minds because this thing is the furthest from dirty you could get. Literally.

Voila!

Boots Expert build up removal shampoo.

Seriously guys and girls this stuff is what you need in your life if you:
- Regularly use product in hair i.e hair wax, gel , clay, hairspray, mousse etc
- Feel like your hair is never fully clean
- Have hair that feels weighed down even after you have washed it
- Want squeaky clean, weightless hair!

Now I would recommend using a silicone free conditioner if you normally put conditioner all over your head (i.e roots and ends and everything inbetween), if you just condition the ends of your hair then you can keep using your normal conditioner and if your a guy I dont even think you need conditioner after using this as my boyfriend used this and his hair was super soft without conditioner (his hair is normal-dry I would say).

I know my boyfriend loves this shampoo because it really makes it feel super clean after using hair product every day and also from working.  I would only recommend using this product once a week in order to get maximum results from this ( I also assume that it can be quite drying on the hair and it strips your hair from all the extra silicones that some conditioners leave in your hair).

Even though I dont use much hair products in my own hair I still see amazing results from this shampoo as my hair (and most asian hair) is quite fine and can get weighed down pretty easily by heavy/rich shampoo and conditioners.

TRY IT!

Picture diary from Chinese New Year!

Just a quick update, feeling like crap atm >___< blame hormones, the X chromosome, the Y chromosome species also and that time of the month. Actually tried so many painkillers (even taking lots at the same time - obviously only those which can be taken together) and its failed to budge this stupid sore tummy!  I mean what else can it want? I give it like day long massages everyday and it doesnt even show any grattitude! Whats that all about?! Hmmpppphhh ...

Anyways before I get too carried away and start a blog post long ramble about how I am a crabbit crab atm I shall shut up and get on with the point of this post, just some quick pictures taken during cny!

TAG: 7 Deadly Beauty Sins

GREED - What is your most inexpensive beauty product? What is your most expensive?
- My most inexpensive beauty product which I use everyday/regularly would be my eyebrow pencil from Sasa in HK costs about £2.
- My most expensive beauty related product would have to be my straightners that were around £100.  GHD's the blue limited edition ones when they came out with four colours, fair enough I didnt purchase these myself as it was a birthday present but still is the most expensive beauty product I have.. i think..

WRATH - What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with? What has been hardest to find?
- I have a love/hate relationship with primer, like face primers because they always seem like a good idea and I always want to use one but then on the skin it always seems to make my makeup feel really cakey and I dont like the way it sits, it just really annoys me :/
- I dont really have a product which I found hardest to find, probably my Dr Jart BB cream that I had to search like 6 sasa stores to find (ironically the one closest to me all along had it) or this YSL lipstick which I literally went to like 4 counters before they had the one I wanted in stock.  I do really want this Laura Mercier highlighting illuminator though which is proving very hard to find (at a reasonable price).

GLUTTONY - What are your most delicious beauty products?
- Delicious? :S thats a bit weird haha I dont normally eat my products... lol but probably the product which tastes the best would be my clarins lipstick, its really weird, doesnt actually taste like anything but on the smells because of the way it smells it smells soo good haha it smells like grapes :)

SLOTH - What beauty product do you neglect due to laziness?
- Again this could be face primer and also sometimes I only take my makeup off with face wipes and dont like use a face wash, which I know isnt good for the skin but I get a bit lazy sometimes :P

PRIDE - What beauty product gives you more confidence?
- I would have to say some sort of face product such as my bb cream, foundation or concealer.. or mascara.

LUST - What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?
- Not sure if this means physical attributes or more like personality things, but tbh I think someone is attractive to you if their personality also attractive.  I think when guys are caring and like notice smaller things is very attractive, they have to be gentle-manly and well mannered also. Nothings a bigger turnoff than a rude person :/ even if they were the best looking guy ive ever seen.

ENVY - What item would you most like to receive as a gift?
- Im quite easy going when it comes to gifts, Id love to recieve the Laura Mercier powder ive been wanting for ages, but id also be happy with a bunch of balloons as a gift =] Im just a little  bit weird like that ;)

Happy New Year! + Wishlist + 10 pan over!!!!!!!!!!

H A P P Y    N E W   Y E A R   ! =]
Hope all my fellow yellow friends and family are having a great time doing allsorts of family things and celebrations, eating losts of yummy food or getting very drunk on wine/drinks!

This year it actually feels more like new years to me, not sure if its because of the fact that my parents aren't working atm and they are spending their full time with us to celebrate, or the fact that I have recieved more lucky money than usual :P haha.  I had a lovely family dinner/get together in Fife on Sunday night and today I've just had dinner with my close immediate family.  With plenty more celebration plans ahead in the next few days im really in this festive mood! (is festive even appropriate to describe cny? :/ ) Anyway hope all of you whom care to spend some time here are also happy and I wish you all the best for the upcoming year!

Thought I would quickly add in my wishlist at the moment as I will probably get some of these items with my new years money !

In no particular order ... (well actually I lie, this first one I want the most lol)

- Laura Mercier Rose Rendezvous illuminator : ahhh yes the limited edition highlighter that was sold out all over the world in the matter of days! Ofcourse I want this, who doesn't want it? :o However due to popular demand (this sentence sounds like something out an essay soz) its only availible on Ebay for like triple the orginal price which was £31 for those that are interested.  The cheapest I've found online is for £59.

- Two Faced Naked Eye Eyeshadow Palette : My friend has this and I really want it for like two particular colours haha, because of that I have delayed buying it for so long! Can't justify £22 for two eyeshadows.. right?

- Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette : tbh I am just waiting for this to be availible in Boots before I get it, as I get a discount on it :P

- Benefit They're Real Mascara : It is the mascara i have been using for a while, but over my 10 pan project time its dried up and obviously I couldnt buy another :P Pretty sure this will be one of the first things I pick up :) although swithering if I should go back to some drugstore favourites as they last longer and with a few extra coats (and less time in bed :@) I can get the same results

Also , IM FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Project 10 Pan finally done! So happy and so glad I done it, once i treat myself to a few beauty products I shall be on another, as I still have too much makeup for my own good!

For those that want to know what I finished up ...
- Dr Jart BB Cream
- Garnier Pure 3 in 1 face wash (friends and family that have oily/acne prone skin.. GET THIS)

Thanks for reading ! =]

YANO - Jan '12

YAAAAAY

- Shellac/gel nail , nothing more annoying than chipping nail polish and having to reapply every few days! Say yes to proper industrial (almost) nails that last upto 2 weeks.
- Chinese New Year ! Spending time with family, days of eating good food and recieving lucky money! :P Whats not to like? NOTHING.
- 20% off student discount shopping atm, girls get shopping this weekend before it ends, the shops that I know are doing this atm are Topshop, Dorothy Perkins and Miss Selfridge.

NAAAAAY!

- When somethings limited edition and no longer availible apart from on ebay for 3 times the original price. Not cool.
- Even worse when im still contemplating buying it... (must not! must not! must not!)
- Overly foamy toothpastes, I mean whats with that? It feels weird in the mouth and not cool if your brushing your teeth infront of your partner/friends/family.  Looking like some sort of rabies infected creature was only mildly attractive/amusing when we were in nursery!
- Nautical trend.  I mean seriously? This trend comes back every year without fail for spring/summer gets really old and repetitive. (Dont hold this against me when im sporting a nautical themed number in the summer please haha).  I think actually this only annoys me because its like forcing summer upon us even though its still winter jacket + wellies weather, just rub it in our faces that we cant prance around in short shorts and sailor hats! (not that I own a sailer hat...)

Not long to W-Eight..

Not long to WAIT! haha did you guys like my pun? Sorry to those whom those it was weight related, sadly I dont have anything to report there haha!

Basically this is another update on my project 10 pan! Enjoy!

Thats right, 3 more products closer to 10. Total 7 now! Actually so happy!!!

6. Aussie Luscious Long leave-in conditioner.  Basically a definite staple for me! De-tangles and is a heat protectant = a win-win situation! Smells great aswel! My hair gets really tangly really easy so this is great after a shower.
7. Cosmoses eyebrow pencil.  This is a korean branded cosmetic I bought whilst I was in Hong Kong in the summer, purchased from Sasa.  It retails at $24 which in pounds is like £2! So much cheaper than any eyebrow pencil in the uk.  The most important part however is the fact that its the best eyebrow pencil ive used.  I have tried different products in the past for filling in eyebrows, such as eyebrow powders, gels, pencils, or like this one the auto khol pencils.  Thankfully a friend of mine bought me another two while she was in HK recently! ^__^ dont hv to be eyebrow-less haha
8. Time Delay, anti age spot serum.  Basically the only serums I use are for whitening, radiance and general evening out of the skin tone.  I only use serums for the purpose of fading old scars.  This product is not amazing, Ive not noticed a major difference (or any difference at all) but its a lovely texture and non greasy.

So happy that I dont have long to go till I can splurge!

hows your 10 pan coming along? :)

Meet me halfway!

Phewwww, I think I shall revert back to my usual style blog posts for the time being. Much easier and much more my style.  So looking at the title im sure those that follow my blog regularly can probably guess what this will be about.  HALFWAY THERE BABY! Ooooh la la! Finally after what seems like ages (yes, I know its only been a few weeks for real) I am halfway through my project 10 pan.

Finished these badboys up.  (some im glad to throw in the bin, others will be a repurchase in the future)

1. Clarins: Rouge Prodige lipstick in 122 Nude. This product took me a while to actually FINISH because I bought another of the exact same seeing as i loved it soooo much haha.  The second tube i am actually more than halfway through too, wouldnt surprise me if it features later on in the pan project.  Retails for £21 I think, its the best nude lipstick ive come across, doesnt make you look too washed out but opaque enough to cover your own lipcolour if its like mine and naturally quite flushed looking.

2. Shu Uemura Cleasing Oil.  The brightening edition, this is the popular asian targeted version of the cleaning oils by this brand because it gently exfoliates ( I didnt actually notice any of this btw but this is what its said to do) therefore brightening and whitening (and we all know all asisan love anything that says whitening haha).  Not sure if I would repurchase this, definitely one of the better cleaning oils as it didnt break me out and leave me with a film on skin, after washing skin feels really soft , clean and the whole cleansing process is quite luxurious haha.  However at £28 a bottle (which fair enough did last me 6 months with regular use approx 4 times a week) is quite pricey and it didnt WOW me enough I dont think.

3. VO5 Miracle Concentrate; elixir with Argan Oil.  Now, if you are a regular youtube beauty guru watcher or blog reader you probably have heard about this mysterious Argon Oil thats been discovered to be multi functional and great for hair so decided to give this a try.  Have to say really impressed for roughly £5 I paid lasted me around 3 months and leaves ends feeling soft and less damaged. Definitely would repurchase.

4. Dermologica; Multi active Toner.  Basically one word which describes this product. MEEH. Does its job as a toner, no real effects noticed (but then again I never notice much effect from a toner) so did just use it up, the spray bottle top is also very handy.  However Dermologica products are quite pricey and I wouldnt pay for it as it basically did as much as Botanics toner would do minus the spray top bottle and about a tenth of the price.

5. Burberry Brit eau de parfum.  Finally finished this badboy! Sad to see it go though and if I spot it in sale on the future I would repurchase seeing as it smells so different and unlike everything else I own. =]

So happy ive got 5 out the way, I am also on the ends of at least two other products I can think of off the top of my head so I cant wait to have this 10 pan done!  Once its done I shall be getting my hands on the Naked2 palette! Kills me that everyone has it and is playing with it already!

Paused for a thought

So... I dont really know how to start this blogpost, its alot harder when it comes to writing a blog post in a diary form than it does in an informative beauty related way. Just gonna jump right into it before I stop myself.

In high school me and my then best friend would always talk about "the stages" which were basically several stages that you go through in life (which during high school time always of course related to either liking someone or breaking up with someone), funnily enough those stages actually fit in to so many things in life than those we used them for.  However for today, I can be back as a school girl and pretend that this is the only worry in my life.

During a break up girls can take to it in many different ways and go through different stages.  The main ones I've figured or noticed are as follows :

- the dreaded emo whom just basically cries all the time, moans all the time, begs to be taken back all the time, general clingyness.  This one actually probably comes out for both guys and girls when alcohol is involved.
- the party animal, which is self explanitary, basically drinking away all emotions, constantly meeting other member of the opposite (or same) in order to feel okay about themselves, wanted, attractive etc.
- the turtle, whom will choose to deal with such a horrible time alone, perhaps locked in his/her room with many sad movies/dramas to keep them amused and away from reality.
- the lazy one, which by lazy I dont mean do  nothing (that would be turtle). Lazy as in would let themselves go , in the sense that they would stop making the effort about themselves, wouldnt care less about how they look as they probably couldnt care less and dont feel like they will meet someone else anyway.
- the optimistic faker, again says it all in the name.. will perhaps indulge in some retail therapy, makeovers, haircuts etc to become a new person and try and look better than before in order to 'get back' on their ex, in a 'look at what your missing out on' kind of way haha.  Cue new cam whoring pictures, new clothes, new looks etc.

Now looking back at all of those different stages I can see I have basically listed all mine at once, I am them all.  Its weird how I can switch between one and the other so easily actually.  Im not gonna lie I am rather scared about the lazy one , I know im lazy because the other day when I was going to bed I was thinking to myself 'Can I be bothered going to get the carmex from accross the room' then decided I couldnt and justified it with 'Im not gna be kissing anybody anytime soon anyway'.   Since that night I've been more cautious about not letting myself go completely, i.e I dont wanna become a girl with you know super long hairy legs and think its ok haha.

As for all the other stages, I hope I can move on from them all.  This post is just to let those whom care to check my blog know that Im okay.  I am all of the above, you will probably meet one of the above, but I am okay. =]

Im an optimistic person, cup half full kind of girl so I will be optimistic about the future.  I do believe whats ment to happen will happen in its course, whether that be one thing or another im just gonna let it happen.  Sorry in advance to those who have/will have to deal with the emo, I am trying my hardest to not be that but sometimes (and its normal) I cant help it.  Also to those who are also heartbroken at the moment, your definitely not alone.

p.s One of my new years resolutions was to make more effort to see friends and family that Ive perhaps neglected, I made this before me and my boyfriend broke up, but it really seems appropriate now.  So if I call you soon to meetup, don't worry im not going to cry and moan about my breakup, I just want to spend some time with you!

p.p.s I just wanna say girls/boys put on these stages in order to get them through a hard time.  Don't judge, even if you have 'heard the story' its different being in the situation so don't judge others for suddenly being weird.  We all have to act like a different person sometimes to give ourselves time off and time to escape reality for a moment.
